Pedalling Through Europe: Racing, Training and Evolving as a Cyclist
This past year has been a phenomenal chapter in my pursuit to become a professional cyclist, taking me from the roads of Australia to some of the most iconic races in Europe. As a just-turned 16-year-old competitive cyclist, I recently spent three months representing Australia in Europe, training and racing at the highest level for my age.
My first stop was Girona, Catalunya (Spain) where I spent five weeks training under the hot Catalan sun. Girona is known for being a ‘cycling mecca’; it’s home to many professional cyclists, and the terrain, weather, and sheer number of cyclists create an environment unlike anything you get here in Australia.
During this training, I had three races while in Girona, managing to secure two podium finishes in the Catalan National Cup Rounds with third place in two events. Unfortunately, a mechanical issue affected the third race, but it was a valuable lesson in dealing with setbacks—a crucial part of being an athlete.
After Girona, I headed to Belgium, where I met with the X Speed Australia Racing Team. Belgium is the homeland of cycling; it is approving ground for many young riders, having produced many a great rider from this region. Over the course of a month, I had 11 races, including the Tour of Assen in Holland, the biggest junior tour in the world, spanning across 5 days of racing. I had an awesome time and picked up much experience; I also had some great results! My best one was my second place: UCI 1.17 Budingen Belgium.
One of the biggest takeaways from this whole experience has been how much I’ve learnt, not only as a cyclist but as a person. Travelling and living on my own, adapting to new cultures and countries, and racing in unfamiliar conditions have taught me a lot about resilience, independence, and adaptability.
Throughout this journey, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have the support of The Studio School. Their flexibility with my schoolwork allowed me to balance both academics and my cycling career without feeling overwhelmed. The International Sports Grant I received from All Saints' College also played a pivotal role, providing essential financial support for my trip. Without it, this experience might not have been possible.
In addition to my training and racing, I also founded my own business, Pedal Partners, which also contributed to funding my trip. It’s been a great learning experience managing a business alongside my cycling commitments, and I’m grateful for the opportunities both have provided.

The International Sports Grant
Supported by All Saints' College, The International Sports Grant is designed to support students who excel in their chosen sports at an international level. Inspired by the immense dedication and passion required to compete at such high standards, this program aims to foster the next generation of athletes by providing the essential resources needed to compete on the global stage. It offers financial assistance to exceptional student-athletes who demonstrate a high level of skill and commitment in their sport.
Competing internationally often requires a significant financial investment—not only for equipment and apparel but also for travel and accommodation. The International Sports Grant helps alleviate these costs, allowing young athletes to focus on their performance. With this support, students gain access to enhanced training opportunities, specialized coaching, and participation in prestigious competitions, which help them develop their skills and advance their sporting careers.
The grant also opens doors to higher levels of competition, exposure, and potential pathways to professional sports. It encourages a balance between academic studies and sporting endeavours, fostering both personal and professional growth. By recognizing the potential of these young athletes, the International Sports Grant reinforces the belief that sports play a pivotal role in shaping young people and instilling a sense of determination that extends far beyond the playing field.
Congratulations again to Jordan on these amazing achievements and for showcasing what dedication and passion can accomplish. We are proud to have supported you on this journey, and we can't wait to see where your journey takes you next.
