Meet AUDREY

Year 11

I’m really passionate about conservation, especially in the regeneration of native flora and fauna. At The Studio School, I’ve been lucky enough to explore this passion through my involvement with Boo Park, where I’ve been hands-on in organising events and designing educational materials.

One of my proudest moments was working with one of my Teacher-Facilitator to secure a grant from the City of Fremantle which has allowed us to create community events that bring together Indigenous and intergenerational knowledge. It’s been a rewarding experience to involve both students and the wider community in something I care deeply about.

When it comes to school, I really enjoy Maths and Science. I love the way The Studio School gives me the freedom to apply what I learn in practical ways, and the support from my Teacher-Facilitators has made a huge difference. I really appreciate the open communication where I can talk to my mentors about anything and always feel supported. I also really appreciate that, as long as we stay within guidelines we can be more creative with how we present ourselves. The school is all about belonging, not fitting in.

I’m also excited about a new opportunity I’ve secured for 2025: a traineeship with the Department of Planning, Lands, and Heritage (DPLH). Out of numerous applicants, I was one of only three students selected for this traineeship. Through this program, I’ll be able to gain real-world experience in the work that DPLH does, which ties in perfectly with my interest in conservation and sustainability. Looking ahead, I hope to keep focusing on environmental regeneration and making a positive impact on the world around me. The Studio School has given me the chance to build connections and develop the skills I’ll need to pursue a career in conservation, and I’m excited for what the future holds.
